Lumencor Spectra Light Engine for Fluorescence Microscopes
The SPECTRA Light Engine seamlessly integrates eight independently controllable light sources to deliver stable and consistent illumination for any and all multicolor fluorescence microscopy applications. Selective excitation for DAPI, CFP, FITC, YFP, TRITC, mCherry, Cy5 and Cy7 is instantaneously accessible with microsecond switching speed. Each of the eight light sources produces 500 mW of stable output at the distal end of a 3 mm liquid light guide. The SPECTRA utilizes LEDs, Lumencor’s proprietary luminescent light pipes and lasers to attain this unsurpassed level of performance. High power illumination allows exposure times to be shortened while maintaining the number of fluorescence photons detected. Shorter exposure times provide increased temporal resolution in time-lapse image sequences and reduce the time required to acquire multicolor z-stacks or slide scans. The SPECTRA also features an advanced control system built around an onboard microprocessor which provides advanced control and monitoring functions in addition to basic control functions of light source selection, on/off switching and output intensity adjustment.
